Finish selection

Chrome is common in dry indoor spaces. Epoxy-coated finishes are often chosen for damp or food-related environments. Stainless steel offers strong corrosion resistance but costs more. Confirm suitability with the manufacturer.

Shelf geometry

Closely spaced wires support smaller items better, while open mesh improves airflow. Shelf liners can help with bottles and small parts but may reduce ventilation.

Mobile units

When adding casters, use the mobile capacity rating rather than the stationary rating. Keep heavy loads low, lock casters during access, and avoid rolling overloaded units across uneven floors.

Cleaning and food use

Choose materials and accessories appropriate for the cleaning chemicals, temperatures, and sanitation requirements of the environment.
